Administrative Director

Ashkal Alwan is seeking an Administrative Director responsible for the administrative aspects of running the institution including: human resources; development; budget; and communications.

The Administrative Director will report directly to the Artistic Director and to the Board of Trustees. The postholder will work in close collaboration with the Artistic Director to implement the artistic vision of Ashkal Alwan.

Starting date: April 2015.
Major Responsabilities
– Overseeing the implementation and running of Ashkal Alwan’s programs and platforms with the team: Home Works Forum; Home Workspace Program; Video Works; Residencies; Library; among others.
– Coordinating with local authorities and institutions to facilitate all procedures needed for the effective execution of the programs.
– Managing Ashkal Alwan’s permanent and temporary staff and ensuring the smooth running of the association.
– Overseeing and broadening the association’s fundraising activities and financial strategy.
– Overseeing the association’s budget.
– Reporting bi-annually to the Board of Trustees.
– Overseeing Ashkal Alwan’s communications and public relations strategy.
– Acting as a spokesperson for the organization via speaking engagements, public and social appearances, and at fundraising events and solicitations.
The candidate should have:
– Knowledge of the local and international cultural sector.
– Significant experience in an equivalent post.
– Knowledge of the local legal and socio-economical system.
– The ability to encourage teamwork and collaboration; strong interpersonal skills that include the ability to inspire and motivate.
– Effective at conflict management.
– Experience in developing and handling budgets.
– Experience in both strategic, operational management and planning.
– Experience in working with and developing effective committees and boards.
– Success at fund development, including knowledge of and success in attracting foundation and corporate grants; ability to identify and solicit individual donors.
