Jacopo Gallico – STALKER, CROSSING “ACTUAL TERRITORIES”

Time: January 8th, 2014, 6.30pm
Location: ALBA, Emile Edde avenue, Sin el Fil, Lebanon

Jacopo Gallico is an architect who, in particular, founded l’Osservatorio Nomade in Berlin. This project best typifies Gallico’s approach, which is founded, seemingly paradoxically, on an architectural practice of nomadism – nomadism as an object of study as well as a way of being. Gallico has radicalised the practices of Stalker, a laboratory for urban art that references the eponymous film by Tarkovsky, where wandering – errancy – becomes a method. He has highlighted, first, the apparatus of both urban networks and urban research, followed by fluidity, and finally urban genetic processes and their social issues, breaching the tools of accepted urban practice, beginning with cartography.
