Founded by Cinephilia Productions in September 2012, CISL For Shorts is a world-touring lab that aims to develop original, visionary and daring voices in the art of screenwriting from the Middle East, North African and South East Asia. The lab offers the tools that result in a strong narrative short film while focusing on the individual’s unique voice as screenwriter. The lab selects 8-10 filmmakers who are in the development phase of a narrative short film. The selection is based on the creativity and originality of the proposed project. One participant will be awarded the ‘Best Screenplay’ Award. The winning screenplay gets funded and produced by Cinephilia Productions.
. Must be over 18 years old.
. Must be originally from eligible countries or must be writing a story set or related to MENASA region.
. Previous experience is recommended however first time filmmakers are highly encouraged to apply.
. Applicants must agree to the screenplay rights terms if awarded (check application form)
. Application form must be completed and signed. Any incomplete application will be disregarded.
. Applicant must be able to fully commit to the lab and its intensive schedule
. Submissions are open two months in advance of a scheduled lab
. 8-10 filmmakers get selected
. Participants must attend the intensive 6 days lab (3 hours each day)
. The lab is followed by a one on one feedback session
. 2 months after the lab is over, submissions are open for the award.
. One screenplay receives the BEST SCREENPLAY award.
