Deadline: June 12, 2015

The 2015 edition of Exposure will be focused on movement, on the instability of shapes and motion of bodies, and by extension, on the ‘trouble’ of definitions and categories.

This edition is the continuation of a series of exhibitions aimed at the collective experience of ‘present time’. They were focused to a large extent on the medium of film, on the voice and the motion of the body, and put forth the notion that when the realm of visual arts is confronted with other disciplines they tend to modify it and extend its possibilities. The jury invited for the occasion will pay particular attention to these transfers of property, to these exchanges between realms and practices – image, gesture, text, sound – as well as between their corresponding sensory systems. We shall state that genres and subjective positions are constantly evolving, and focus on the mobility of hierarchies inherent to collective life and perception. Hybridity, instability of definitions, marginality and mobility, will constitute the common threads of an exhibition seeking to explore, rather than demonstrate, how art can cross into our world and what it can produce in our lives.

BAC, together with the jury, will select the artists who will participate in the exhibition based on the quality of their work. Marie Muracciole, director of Beirut Art Center, will curate the show. Selected artists will work closely with her to realize a new work, or present an old work that has not yet been shown in Lebanon.
We invite you to submit a proposal before June 12, 2015. All media are accepted in the field of contemporary art. The selection of the participants will be announced by mid-July. Exposure 2015 is scheduled to take place in mid-December.
