Emily Jacir select works from 1998-2014
Darat al Funun is pleased to present an extensive survey of Emily Jacir’s film and video works, installations, and sculpture. The exhibition includes several rarely seen works, as well as key works presented together for the first time, such as Change/ Exchange from 1998, ex libris (2010-2012), commissioned for dOCUMENTA (13), and Untitled (SOLIDARIDAD) (2013), created for the 55th Venice Biennale.
Silenced historical narratives, resistance, transformation, issues of movement (both forced and voluntary), and the logic of the archive have been recurring themes throughout Jacir’s oeuvre since the 1990s. She has shown extensively throughout Europe, the Americas and the Arab world since 1994. Awards include a Golden Lion at the 52nd Venice Biennale (2007); a Prince Claus Award (2007); the Hugo Boss Prize at (2008); and the Herb Alpert Award (2011).
