Curated by Berit Schuck, CAMOCA (Cairo Museum of Contemporary Art) is a transnational curatorial project that reflects on the history of contemporary art in Cairo. CAMOCA adopts specific artistic strategies that have been inspired by projects and exhibitions by artists, pedagogues, film makers, curators, academics and thinkers who have worked in the region over the past years, including Adelita Husni-Bey, Manuel Pelmus, Noor Afshan Mirza and Brad Butler, Reem Fadda, Clare Davies and Anton Vidokle. In their transdisciplinary work these artists and thinkers challenge exhibition formats, categories and protocols of museums.
