‘Sometimes a Mirage Reveals to be an Oasis’

Filmmakers and visual artists, Joana Hadjithomas and Khalil Joreige build their work questioning historiography, the production of knowledge, imaginaries, and narrative. They evolve between fiction films, documentaries, photo, or art installations creating thematic and formal ties between their different productions. Their multi awarded films, both documentaries (Khiam, The Lost Film, The Lebanese Rocket Society) of fictions (A Perfect Day, I Want To See) are singular experiences. Their work and research are inspired from political documents, personal or family archives, creating narratives around «stories kept secret» as a form of resistance to the dominant history.
They work on the figures of latency, remanence, evocation, and the relation to images and representations. They have been exhibited in important international museums and biennials. Their work is part of major private and public collections.
