Call for participants in an art project by Mohamed Bourouissa as part of Sharjah Biennial 13 exhibition in Beirut.

Algerian-born, Paris-based artist Mohamed Bourouissa is looking for participants for a new project that will feature in a group exhibition as part of the Sharjah Biennial 13, Act II, taking place in Beirut from October 2018 until January 2018.
The project will consist of producing three CD compilations; each centered around one of the three themes of “language”, “gentrification” and “economy”. Based on the format of popular mixtapes, these compilations will feature a variety of material including music, spoken word and field recordings that relate to the theme.
With the help of the participants, Bourouissa will produce the first compilation on “language”, while the following compilations, on “gentrification” and “economy” will be compiled by the participants themselves, split into two teams, using their experience from their work on the first compilation.

 Volunteers should be undergraduate university students.
 Volunteers should be based in Beirut or able to commute to Beirut on a regular basis during the project.

 Experience in working/participating in cultural or artistic projects is a plus.
 Experience in working/participating in collective work and group work is a plus.

AVAILABILITY (exact dates and number of days to be confirmed later):
 Group 1 (compilation CD on gentrification): mid October to mid November 2017.
 Group 2 (compilation CD on economy): mid November to mid December 2017.

We encourage everyone with an interest in music, contemporary art and design, urban studies, literature or social and economic studies to apply for this project.

Participants will be collaborating with Bourouissa on a voluntary basis. Travel and lunch expenses will be reimbursed.
