Deadline: December 31, 2013

CURATE is a joint initiative partnered by Fondazione Prada and the Qatar Museums Authority. Through this award, the two institutions aim to encourage the realisation of great curatorial expressions, ideas on how to exhibit, and perspectives that regard new languages inside and outside museums’ spaces in a rapidly changing world.

CURATE is the first prize of its kind in the world. This global competition aims to find new curating projects and will accept entries on until 31 December 2013.

CURATE is open to anyone who is interested in visual culture and wishes to curate his own exhibition. QMA and Fondazione Prada are looking for anyone with a great concept for creative expression, with the emphasis on encouraging young people to compete, whether as individuals or as collaborative groups.

A world-renowned Jury – composed by Her Excellency Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani, Chairperson, Qatar Museums Authority; Miuccia Prada, President, Fondazione Prada; Rem Koolhaas, architect, urban theorist, founder, OMA; Nadine Labaki, Lebanese film-maker and actress; Nawal El Moutawakel, the first woman from a Muslim majority country to win an Olympic gold medal; and Hans Ulrich Obrist, co-director, Serpentine Gallery, London – will judge ideas on their creativity and social significance, rewarding those with a contemporary and culturally relevant point of view.
