The Festival

Established in 1985 by a group of film-lovers of the “Association des Amis de Cinéma de Tétouan”, the festival was initially entitled “Rencontres Cinématographiques de Tétouan” (Tetouan Film Encounters). For each edition, the Festival hosts film professionals and it has gradually developed, becoming a major project.

Its 10th Edition is a turning point as the “Rencontres Cinématographiques de Tétouan” become the Tetouan International Mediterranean Film Festival now focusing on the promotion of films coming from different Mediterranean countries. The Mediterranean thus becomes both part of the Festival’s title and the main theme of the Festival.

Supported by many celebrities (including the late Mohamed Osfour, Izza Genini, Daoud Oulad Syad or even Serge Toubiana), for the past 30 thirty years, the Festival has not stopped developing, giving precedence to quality films that meet the requirements of an audience that is eager to watch films reflecting the diversity of Mediterranean cultures and civilisations.
