Emily Jacir works in a variety of media, including installation, performance, social intervention, photography, film and video. One-person exhibitions include the Guggenheim Museum, New York (2009), Kunstmuseum, St. Gallen (2008), and Beirut Art Center (2010). Jacir has also participated in the Venice Biennale (2005, 2007, 2009), Sao Paulo Biennale (2010) the 15th Biennale of Sydney (2006); the Sharjah Biennial (2005, 2011) and the 8th Istanbul Biennial (2003). In 2011 she received the Alpert Award for the Arts, other awards include a Golden Lion at the 52nd Venice Biennale (2007); Prince Claus Award (2007); and the Hugo Boss Prize at the Guggnheim Museum (2008). She is a full-time professor and on Academic Board of the International Academy of Art Palestine (2006 – 2011). Jacir is currently Resident Professor on the Home Workspace in Beirut where she has created the curriculum and programming for 2011-2012.
