Ashkal Alwan announces an open call for applicants currently residing in Lebanon to participate in the 2025 edition of the Home Workspace Program (HWP), taking place in Beirut from February 3 to August 15, 2025.
Launched in 2011, HWP is an annual arts study program that invites fellows to develop their formal, technical and theoretical skills in a critical setting. The program provides fellows with feedback and resources to support their practice, a monthly stipend, and a shared studio space. Past editions of HWP were open to applicants from all over the world. Due to the current instability in the country, HWP 2025 will only be accepting artists living and working in Lebanon.
The 14th edition of the program will be structured according to the individual and collective needs of selected fellows and their practices. Some of the program's lectures, seminars, and workshops will be open and free of charge to the public.
Deadline to receive applications is January 2, 2025.
Send your application to hwp@ashkalalwan.org
Eligibility, conditions, and application:
The program is open to artists aiming to develop their formal, theoretical, and critical skills in dialogue with fellow artists, scholars, writers, thinkers, and others.
All artists based in Lebanon are eligible to apply, regardless of age and nationality.
Applicants should be able to fully commit to HWP’s schedule. External engagements must be kept at a minimum and should not interfere with each fellow’s commitment to the program.
Up to six fellows will be selected to take part in HWP 2025; each will receive a monthly stipend and a shared studio space.
The program will be carried out primarily in English.
How to apply:
Please submit a one-page CV, a portfolio of past works (<10MB) and a letter of motivation (300–500 words) to hwp@ashkalalwan.org.
Questions concerning the application process or the program itself, can be directed to the same email address.
